What is Aboriginal Dreaming?
Aboriginal Dreaming are stories that describe the Dreamtime, a time in which the Aboriginal peoples believe the Earth came to have its present form and in which life and nature began. Dreamtime is important because it teaches cultural values and belief systems to later generations.
The Pinnacles
The Pinnacles are located in New South Wales near the regional town of Broken Hill. The Pinnacles are apart of the Marnbi Dreamtime Story. The Marnbi story began when a man made a net to catch some Bronze Winged Pigeons. When a flock came, he captured them in his net, and struck them with his club, and some how, Marnbi escaped. Marnbi fled and flew droping feathers and faeces (White Quartz and Black Rock) while flying till he was at his point of death Mount Isa. During the journey, Marnbi had sat down as he was very sick at three places which are where the Pinnacles are today. Marnbi also lost blood as well, which became mineral deposits. In the early twentieth century a women name Mrs Bugmy remembered that Aboriginals for the states in which the Marnbi story passed through gathered and danced at the middle pinnacle.
